"It’s the most wonderful time of the year!" Those words from the popular song about Christmas is especially true for the orphans and vulnerable children of Chikudzulire, Malawi.
Children like three-year-old Kustina. Kustina’s father died of HIV/AIDS and so her 27-year-old mother Anne was left to fend for herself and her child. When Kustina’s mother first brought her to one of the feeding centers, she weighed 9 lbs and was sick with malaria. Today, she is an active, healthy little girl who weighs 29 lbs! Kustina’s mother is so grateful for the opportunity to have her child get a meal of fortified porridge every day. She has seen the difference it has made in her daughter’s life. Now Anne is a volunteer with the feeding program and is active in the widows’ and women’s group where is she learning a skill that will help her become self-sufficient. Not only that, she is studying the Bible and growing in her relationship with God! What a difference two years have made in the life of this family.
Kustina and Anne’s story is just one of literally thousands that illustrate the impact that MISSION and our partner Somebody Cares is making in the lives of the children, families and villages in Chikudzulire.
This year at MISSION we are continuing the tradition of Advent Conspiracy. Once again we will be praying that the Lord will enable us to provide a daily meal for 8,500 children for an entire year. BUT this year, we have an additional goal. Chief Theresa Malia, the director of Somebody Cares Malawi, has identified eight villages in Chikudzulire that have an urgent need for clean drinking water. Our desire is to provide that water to those eight villages, and the 8,000 families that live ther .
Join me and thousands of children, youth and adults at MISSION in making this the most wonderful time of the year for the people of Chikudzulire, Malawi. All it takes is $50 to provide a daily meal for a child for a year, and give the gift of clean drinking water. You can give online, or you can go to one of the Advent Conspiracy tents after any of our weekend worship services.
Become part of the Advent Conspiracy! Make Christmas the most wonderful time of the year!
